I like Valentine’s Day. Sure, I’m going to like it, I have a boyfriend. OBVS.
But I’ve always liked it, even when i’ve been single – it’s another excuse to crack open the wine, eat good food and well, buy presents. In fact, some of my favourite Valentine’s Days have been when I’ve been single – there was the year I went to a traffic light party, back in the days when we ALL wore shorts on nights out. They were usually grey or black and worn with a tank top or shirt. Kill me now, like, what even was that?
Then there was the year, not quite so long ago, when we spent it sat in the local Indian on a Wednesday night, drinking wine, dressed up in heels because why the flip not and just being generally merry and happy.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be just about showering your partner in love and affection, it’s about showering yourself and your friends in affection too. Oh, and also it’s right next to pancake day, so err, yeah, there’s that.
Anyway, my gift guide is just a jumble of things. Sure, some of them are love-themed, but a lot of them are just pink or pretty or cute or OH MY GOD A MUG WITH A PICKLE ON.
So yeah, buy something for yourself because life is too flipping short. I’m going to go and spend my credit card allowance on H&M homeware. SEE YA.
