What To Buy From Aldi’s Baby & Toddler Specialbuys Event | AD

Today is an absolute cracker of a day, and you know why? Because today, dear friends, is the day that supermarket Aldi’s Baby & Toddler Specialbuys Event launches online, dun dun dun….!

If you’re familiar with Aldi’s infamous event, you’ll know that it’s an absolute treasure trove for affordable parenting bits and bobs – from nursery furniture and newborn essentials, to books, toys and clothing. Perfect for mums and dads of any ages.

The event happens three times a year and this summer stint launches online from Sunday 11th August 2019 and will be available in the middle aisles in-store from Thursday 15th August 2019. Which is perfect for having a good ol’ snoop whilst swinging in midweek for nappies and salted pretzel chocolate (a personal new-found favourite of mine).

Aldi has kindly given me a first look at what will be included this time around and I’ve handpicked my absolute fave products from the bunch so you can get an idea of what’s worth keeping an eye out for.

Happy baby and toddler shopping!

I have been desperately hoping these reusable nappies would feature in Aldi’s baby & toddler event after reading The Frugality’s post on her journey with cloth nappies where she said this was her favourite brand to use. Not only will the nappies be available to buy (in four different adorable designs) but there’ll also be nappy boosters and nappy liners for anyone hoping to give reusable nappies a go without making a huge initial investment. Shop here.

2. BABY HAMPER (£39.99)

Everything you could ever need for the early days of newborn life – all sweetly placed inside a wicker hamper (which tbh would be really useful as a place to keep nappies, wipes and changing bits next to the sofa). Included within the hamper are sleepsuits, vets, muslin cloths, bibs, soothers, book, corner cushion and a blanket. Available in three different designs – ‘Sloth & Fox’, ‘Dinosaur & Lion’ and ‘Bunny’, I would have LOVED to have dressed Atti in the dinosaur and lion design when he was a newborn. Shop here.

3. 1.0 TOG BABY SLEEP BAG (£9.99)

I wish I’d bought one of these last summer because they are a gamechanger for holidays and warm summer weather. Atti has spent most of the year from April onwards sleeping in just a 1.0 tog sleeping bag and nappy (plus a short-sleeved vest on cooler nights) and has preferred it so much more to just sleeping in a nappy. These come in five designs and are 100% cotton. Shop here.

I bought a similar set last year from Aldi and regretted not buying a second almost instantly. I love the designs and that they’re also bamboo and I can attest to the fact that they really last and wash well as our set still looks brand new after almost a year of daily use. Inside the set is a plate, bowl and cutlery and you can choose between four different animal designs. Shop here.

5. THAT’S NOT MY… BOOK (£2.99)

We bought around three or four of these from Aldi last summer and they’re still a hit – they were great at getting Atti interested in books and reading before bedtime. This time there will be a Frog, Plane, Bear, Donkey, Robot or Car to choose from. Shop here.

6. TOY WORKBENCH (£6.99)

There’s four different toys from Clemontoni all priced at £6.99 which make great early toys or presents for a niece or nephew. I like the workbench for Atti as it’s different to anything he already has, but there’s also a stacking toy, a castle and a shape sorter – perfect for keeping their little hands and minds occupied. Shop here.

These come in four different animal designs and are a really cheap way to make a toddler’s bed seem more fun and exciting. I love the bunny design! Shop here.

These silicone night lights change colour and offer comfort to little ones who are afraid of the dark. It automatically turns off after an hour and comes in either cat, rabbit or bear shapes. I love how cute these are and will definitely be putting one in Atti’s room as it starts to get darker in the evenings. Shop here.

This is currently residing in my reading pile, but I have heard such good things about it – a relatable read on motherhood. If you’ve got a beach holiday lined up and fancy trying to digest an entire book during nap time this is the perfect book for you. The Unmumsy Mum Diary is also available to buy at the event. Shop here.

For anyone currently pregnant or expecting a baby this is a cute (and super Instagram-friendly) way to photograph your baby as he or she grows. The blanket also comes in three different designs featuring a sloth, dinosaur or bunny rabbit and would also make a sweet baby shower gift! Shop here.

I love these for days out – not only are the animal designs super cute and fun (you can choose from Zebra, Lion, Tiger or Giraffe) but they’re also insulated and wipe clean making them incredibly practical. Shop here.

There’s also some great nursery furniture (cot, changing table and wardrobe) as well as larger pieces like a pushchair and Moses basket – check out the full Specialbuys event online here or check out your local store from 15th August 2019.
