I’ve spent an entire lifetime trying to find my personal style. To find clothes that make me feel confident, empowered, brilliant – clothes that reflect who I am on the inside.
(And yes, I’m aware I just said that I was brilliant, but hey whatcha gonna do).
There was the time I wore a vintage Spice Girls t-shirt with a rara skirt and leg warmers for a trip to the cinema with some school pals – who spent the entire time apologising to their new boyfriends about my, ahem, slightly out there appearance.
There was the time I gave in and bought a khaki puffa jacket and wore my hair slicked back with the ol’ collar turned up.
And then there was the time I became obsessed with wearing all my nan’s hand me downs.
But these days you only need to take a quick spy at the ol’ HG Insta grid to see the things I like to wear most – the pleated midi skirts, the girly dresses, the mini heels. I like to feel a little bit polished and feminine, and I like to wear pink. I’m not a ‘I’ll wear black when they invent a darker colour’ kinda gal.
I like my clothes (and my make-up) to uplift me. To make me feel like I am powerful and capable of anything. Hence the love of bright lipstick and blazers.
The thing with finding your personal style, is that once you’re there, once you’ve found it and grabbed it with both hands and held it tight to your chest, you can find it hard to let it go – and to step back outside your comfort zone. To try new things.
Which is why I was all YES, YES, YES to this month’s Birchbox and Boden collaboration.
It celebrates breaking the style rules, pushing your boundaries and acknowledging that bold is beautiful.
And I think that’s a sentiment we could all do with hearing a little more.
Which is why I decided to go wild and break out of my comfort zone with this outfit. Whilst the culottes, strappy heels and cross body bag are all classic Hannah, the bardot top is something I wouldn’t usually pick up.
I love the zingy print, but I’d be scared of it drawing attention to my chest, but actually I love how spring-like and outgoing it makes me feel.
Like much of Boden’s stuff, it gives off seriously happy vibes, and that’s something I can definitely get on board with.
So for this month only, the Boden and Birchbox have teamed up to create the ultimate spring beauty subscription box.
Not only is the box pretty pleasing on the eyes (it comes in v poppy red, pink, yellow and blue floral print by Boden – as seen on the ol’ bardot top), but it contains five products to help tease your beauty routine into the new season, two of those being full-size.
A couple of faves from my box include the Crème Moana in Fleur de Tiarè from Baijia Paris which is essentially a really sexy smelling moisturiser. The scent instantly makes me feel like I’m in a tropical paradise (and also makes me skin feel super hydrated), and it’ll absolutely be coming in my carry-on luggage to Corfu next week.
That’s one of my fave things about Birchbox – not only do you get to try some great beauty prods for the first time, but you get some awesome travel size products if you’re constantly trying to avoid paying for checked luggage like this gal over here.
This month I also received the IcePure Gentle Scrub from Polaar, the Nip + Fab Colour Correcting Concealer, The Shield Style Extending Spray from Amika, and the HD Powder from Manna Kadar – which is the perfect size to throw in my bag for long days in London to keep my make-up in place. V perfect for faces that seem happiest when they’re swimming in oil, like mine.
You can get your hands on April’s Birchbox X Boden box over at birchbox.co.uk. It’s £10 a month, plus £2.95 for shipping – and you can choose between a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription.
(Plus you can get a free Pixi by Petra Shea Butter when you subscribe this month with code PIXIHAN – y’know me, ever the enabler).
Happy prancing into Spring, ladies.
This is a sponsored post but all beauty and outfit love my own.
