There’s something crazy satisfying about deciding you don’t like something the rest of the world does. Like you’ve broken free from the brain-washing and made up your own mind without fear of fitting in.
With that in mind, I’ve got an announcement to make. My name’s Hannah Gale and I don’t like nude lipstick.
Freakin’ heck that felt good.
I tried to. I tried really hard to. In fact, I wore NYX’s Stockholm until my tube ran out, but every time I looked in the mirror I was like sweet heckin heck WHO EVEN IS THAT.
The lip colour did not match the girl.
And, now that my adult acne is clearing up a treat (post on that to come later this month), I’ve rediscovered my lipstick confidence and have been rocking lots of bright shades of late – both old classics and new faves.
So I thought I’d share them with you, just in case y’know, you’ve fallen off the nude bandwagon too.
Oh and spoiler, they’re all pink. BECAUSE I LOVE PINK AND I DON’T CARE WHO KNOWS IT.
The little lovebugs at bareMinerals launched an entire nude lippy collection this month (there’s glosses and mattes and whatever your heart desires), but my fave by far is this pinky-toned liquid lipstick called ‘Kissyface’ (although ‘Cookie’ also looks v babin’).
It’s perfect if bold colours make you want to hide in a dark cave, plus it’s 578457 times more hydrating than any other liquid lipstick I’ve ever used.
This hunk is pretty much always in my handbag. It’s my shit wah crap I’ve left the house in a hurry and look like a zombie death eater perk-me-up.
Whilst the color isn’t at all as purple-toned as the name suggests, it is a great natural shade if nude tones aren’t your thang.
I’ve worn this three times this week alone. Obsessed doesn’t even cut it. The formula of these Smashbox lippies is pretty great (Kate from Kate La Vie has a whole post on them if you want a full review).
I adore a red-hued pink, and if you’re into MAC’s Relentlessly Red, this is similar, if slightly more tame and wearable.
I’ve got to throw my arms in the air and admit that I’m not mad keen on the shape of the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, I find them a little fiddly to apply.
But that aside, this deep red-pink is majestic and lovely and sassy and makes me feel like a queen, so good name there Tilbs, good name.
What’s your fave pink lippy?
