I’m typing this whilst wearing a bright coral lipstick, which is exciting because a) this is the first time I’ve worn bright lips out of the house just ‘cos in months and months and b) because spring days and bare legs and coral lippies are not that far away.
(I mean they are – but lets just daydream here for a minute).
Also, my skin is starting to clear, and although the scarring and uneven skin tone will be with me a little while longer, it is so much easier to cover scars with a slick of foundation rather than crispy, oozing, flaking spots. And so I guess maybe I’m starting to look the way I *think* I look when I look in the mirror, rather than seeing a face I don’t recognise, and it’s given me a fresh burst of 2017 confidence.
But anyway, I’ll do a post on my skin maybe next month, when it’s been clear long enough for me to shout things like HOW I GOT RID OF MY ADULT ACNE.
But for now, HG Weekly Charts…
SUFFOLK – I heard an interview with Ed Sheeran the morning his two singles were released where he said that Castle On The Hill was ‘a love song about Suffolk, because I’m not sure anyone’s ever written a love song about Suffolk before’. And it’s made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and mega happy haps about everything that living in Suffolk has given me – my friends, my boyfriend, my cats, my home, my work, and some A+++ brunches. Chris also wrote a post about the best things about living in Suffolk over here, in case you fancy a read.
BAREMINERALS NUDE RANGE – bareMinerals, my longtime make-up base gurus, have just launched a new nude lip collection called GEN NUDE and there’s some abso gems in there. Aside from lippies and liners and buttercream glosses, there’s matte liquid lipsticks and oh baby, you need to try them. They’re hydrating and creamy (although yes, a wee bit pricier than your NYX lip cremes) and my fave shade is Kissyface – the perfect natural pale pink.
GINGHAM TRENCH COAT – Next very kindly asked if I’d like to pick an item or two from their new collection (I know, get the violins out), and I went for this v sassy gingham coat. As you gals know, I love a long coat and I love a peek of gingham, so this felt very HG. I like that it feels a little bit out there, and maybe a smidge out of my comfort zone, but will be perfect to wear with jeans, t-shirts, berets and flat pumps in the spring.
BLISTERS – Bleurgh. I wore a pair of flat pointed shoes (an old fave pair from early 2k16) last Saturday for a day of exploring Bury St Edmunds. Cute and all until they started cutting into my ankles and I had to stop to snap up some plasters from Boots. WAH. Even less cute and even more bleurgh when the blisters refused to heal and decided to rub aggressively against my Stan Smiths, leaving me with two very bloody feet for a day of pounding the streets of London. (Soz if you were attempting to eat whilst reading this post…).
PURPLE JUMPER – The jumper itself isn’t going down but corr blimey, the price is. You’ll have probably spied this New Look charmer on my YouTube or blog or Insta, and I did tell you all it was hideously itchy. HOWEVER, once on, you honestly don’t notice the scratchy material. I wore it all day in London yesterday and was v much very snug (aside from the migraine that crept on around 3pm..). Anyway, I found it reduced from £35 down to £11 in the Oxford Street branch – and it’s also in the sale online.
WEEKLY CHARTS – I AM REALLY SORRY. I tried. I really tried. But it’s happened. Writing my Weekly Charts has become a *bit* of a burden and I’ve started to dread writing them (I appear to be a blog series commitment phobe, eeesh). I’ll see how long I can keep going but I’m toying with the idea of whipping them into a weekly newsletter instead, which will also include some of my fave reads from around the internet/bloggersphere. Lemme know your thoughts below!
