Good day my fine love bugs.
I’m currently sat at my dining table listening to the new Ed Sheeran songs on repeat with a hot cuppa, a bunch of fresh roses that boo bought me (he says it’s to say congrats for being included on MTV’s bloggers to watch list – read it here – but I think it’s because I’ve been such a gargoyle these past few days that he’s starting to fear me), and an apple pie candle.
Although let’s be honest here, I wish it was just a big slice of apple pie.
It’s been a standard kind of week – average motivation levels, one nap, one gym class, one day of meetings in London and one hideous nightmare about burglars in the house. So there’s not much to report.
I’m still feeling that light sparkliness in my soul that 2017 is going to be all kinds of awesome, but I’ve been struggling to hustle quite as hard as I’d like to these past few days. Hopefully next week will be a bit more fist pump emoji heavy, eh?
Here’s a few of this week’s highlights and lowlights…
JO MALONE ‘MYRRH AND TONKA’ – You’ve probably seen this iconic black Jo Malone cologne bottle splashed across your Insta feed this week, and hey look I’m going to jump straight on that bandwagon. I was lucky enough to smell this divine new launch a couple of months ago and refused to wash the jumper I’d spritzed it on for two weeks. Myrrh and Tonka is deep and majestic, and so different to anything I’d usually go for, and there’s something oddly comforting about it. According to Wikipedia, Tonka beans have a vanilla/cherry/almond kinda scent, so that’s probably what makes it so freakin’ divine. Go give it a smell.
BIG HAIR, DON’T CARE – It’s clearly been a big week for beauty because I finally learned how to get big, bouncy hair. HUZZAH. My hair has always been a bit, ahem, limp. And flat and dull, and keen to get itself as greasy as a chip shop. But I read a tip from InTheFrow where she said something about having your head tipped upside down the entire time you’re drying it. So I tried it. I towel dried my hair, added some Toni & Guy Volume Lotion, and dried and hey presto LOOK MY HAIR HAS LIFE. I curled it, and the bounce and volume lasted into the next day as well. I’m not sure I’ll ever look back…
EXERCISE – Yes, yes, alright, I know I said new year, same old Hannah, but I’ve been trying to get back into old exercise habits. I’ve had a couple of Pilates classes and have forced myself for a swim on more than one occasion in the past week, and y’know what? It’s been nice. Quite nice. For the first time in maybe forever I’ve been enjoying that sensation you get mid workout where you’re like I’m going to push my body and see what it can do. I always thought that was mythical, lolz.
RESTRICTIVE DIETS – I’ve seen a shit ton (v specific metric) of articles recently about how grand it is that we’ve finally let go of the restrictive diet as a means to lose weight. Well done us. Pat on the back for us. Here’s something fun for you, I ordered a Domino’s on Tuesday because I was just not feeling the salmon and rice we had lined up, and it took THREE times the length it usually does, which I can only assume means the rest of Ipswich was also secretly making the most of Two For Tuesday. Let’s make 2017 the year we finally understand eating in moderation, eh?
THE FULL MOON – I have been all slumpy the past few days. I actually screamed (SCREAMED?!) on Tuesday. What sane twenty seven year old screams at 10am in the morning? FFS. Anyway, I’m putting it down to the full moon, because it’s making me feel like I have a seriously blah case of PMS but alas my period is nearly two weeks away. Anyway else feeling all bizarre and not like themselves?
NECK ACHE – I booked a last-minute osteopath appointment this week because my neck and shoulder pain had got to the hideous stage where I had to take ibuprofen and sleep without any pillows just to fall asleep. I basically have more of a curved spine than I should, the result of poor posture and too much time at a computer, and it puts extra pressure across my upper back muscles to pick up the pace. Anyway, it’s easing off a bit now I’ve been pulled about and had my neck cracked, and I’m hoping that Pilates will help ease the pain in the long run.
What’s new with you guys?
