I’ve been staring at this screen for about 11 minutes thinking about how to start this post, but in all honestly I’m distracted by the fact that the set-up on my Sky TV guide has changed and omg what next, someone will swap the Lurpak in my fridge for something else? Change the time GBBO is on? Change the angle of my wing mirrors? What a wild world we live in.
Anyway, there’s a been a few swap-ins to my every day make-up bag of late, DUN DUN DUN, so I thought I’d keep you in the loop about what is, ahem, out. And what’s in.
IN: CLARINS BB SKIN DETOX FLUID (out: bareMinerals Complexion Rescue)
I mentioned this in my Friday Faves last week (over here), but in news as shocking as my Sky TV guide dilemma, I have replaced my trusty much-loved bottle of Complexion Rescue.
I’ve loved it for a long time, it’s hogged the limelight a little, but now there’s a new every day base in town and I’ve got to shout about it.
There’s conflicting evidence on the internet about when this boo was released, but it was this year, and there’s just so many things I like about it: it’s super light and easy to blend, yet offers a strong medium coverage, it’s glowy yet natural, it’s long-lasting yet not cakey, and it’s super hydrating on the skin. You need to give it a whirl.
IN: BOBBI BROWN CREAM SHADOW STICK IN MALTED PINK (out: Charlotte Tilbury Instant Face In A Palette)
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still fan-girling hard all over the Charlotte Tilbury palette, but for my eyes I’ve switched to something a little different.
This isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned the Bobbi Bown cream sticks on this blog, but it’s the first time the malted pink shade has had a big ol’ juicy shout out. It’s a matte dusky pink shade and I cannot get enough of it. It is bae. It’s all I’m planning on wearing on my eye lids until at least November.
The formula of these makes them seriously easy to apply and blend and they last all day. I tend to go for a shimmery eye if I’m bothering with shadow, but this pink shade has changed everything. I’ve been applying across my whole lid and running under my bottom lashes too. Just divine.
IN: EYEKO BROW GEL (out: Charlotte Tilbury brow gel)
Poor Chazza T, eh? I’m all over the Eyeko brow gel at the mo because it has a slight tinted colour whereas my Charlotte Tilbury one is clear. It just feels like it adds an extra bit of pizzazz, y’know? And it’s great at picking out all the individual hairs and making them do sexy things.
I’ve been using a brow pencil for the main colour and shape and then using this gel to fluff them up and make them look just a teeny tiny bit like they resemble Chloe Moretz’s slugs, AKA my number one brow girl crush.
IN: LANCOME GRANDIOSE LINER (out: all other liners)
I’ve actually gone from wearing liquid eye liner every other day to maybe once a fortnight. I dunno, I’ve just become a bit of an eye shadow playa and liner hasn’t been getting a look in.
I’ve heard mixed reviews on the new Lancome liner and wanted to y’know, wade in on the debate. Sometimes it needs you to shake it a lot even when it feels like you’ve only used it twice and why is it running out, but aside from that it’s the easiest to use eye liner I’ve maybe ever come across – thanks to the flexible brush. Plus it’s pigmented and is real black not like some sort of misty grey. Babin’.
IN: JO MALONE’S WHITE LILAC AND RHUBARB (out: Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede)
I’ve had this perfume sitting on my dresser for forever and I’ve always liked it, but Peony and Blush Suede was always the scent I reached for, just because it feels so sweet and girly and yet light and delicate, whereas White Lilac and Rhubarb is well, kinda crisp and super fresh.
In a moment of intense anxiety a few weeks ago, I think I picked it up by mistake, and the scent coated the cosy cardigan I’d wrapped myself in. And there was something about it, the way it made me feel like I was sitting in a garden somewhere miles away from my own head, that instantly soothed me, and I’ve been obsessed ever since.
It’s become my comfort blanket in a scent and I haven’t stopped wearing it. It makes me feel calm and strong and pretty darn good.
Sadly, I think it’s been discontinued, wah wah wah :(:(:(
