I popped into town last week to buy a bath bomb for my digital detox pamper video thingy ma-bob (over here if ya wanna watch – it’s only a few minutes long if that sways you) and then I saw big red sales banners all over H&M and well my legs just started walking towards the doors and it was completely out of my control.
Anyway, fast forward about seven minutes and I was tottering back to the car with a bag containing two new buys.
The first, was a pair of could-be-Ray-Bans that weren’t in the sale, but considering they’re pretty near perfect dupes for the designer sunnies I probably left on a table somewhere after a couple of glasses of wine earlier this year, who cares. I *think* they were £6.99 but I was too distracted by that burst of I OWN NEW PRETTY THINGS to really notice.
The second was this lace midi skirt of sassy, sophisticated, Parisian-woman dreams.
I bought my first black lace midi skirt a few Christmases ago from Warehouse but went into clothes-size-denial and bought a 12, which was pretty bladdy snug. And then after a few months of forcing it on and being in pain, the zip got stuck during a particularly sizeable Indian feast and I had to be cut out of it.
Man, I wish that was a made up story, but alas no.
Anyway, I spied one on the H&M website a few months back for £39.99 but was a bit like it’s not cheap but it’s not expensive and I dunno. And then last week there was it, just hanging there chilling on the sale rail for £19.99.
Although, dun dun dun, it’s now £15.99 online.
Anyway, I’ve worn it FOUR times this week. With Chris’s t-shirt as seen here (the one I wanted to wear was in the wash, lol), with Chris’s shirt to a garden party, and with my own tropical print shirt for a morning of meetings in London.
It goes with everything. It’s comfy. It makes me feel just a little bit chicer. It flatters my curves. AND it’ll still look cute with tights and a biker jacket when autumn comes roaring out of nowhere.
So yeah, you need it. You can shop it online here.
OH, and I’ve linked a handful of other dreamy midi skirts I’ve spied online below, just in case you’re trying to y’know, get some variation in your all-black wardrobe.
