3 Things You Need In Your Wardrobe This Summer

Last week I headed into the depths of Essex to meet Ellie for a full day of sassy fashion shooting. Oh and a picnic because Brie is bae and I’ve always got time for more cheese in my life (soz if you’re feeling a little snug, jeans).

We opted to meet in Rayleigh Mount, a cute little National Trust woodland area just outside the town centre, because well, it was about an hour from each of us, and hey, it’s nice to try somewhere new isn’t it?

We did almost get locked in the park and were on the cusp of melting into an ugly, sticky pile of tears and fluster, but alas, an old man saved us. HUZZAH.

Anyway, the purpose of our meet-up, aside from to analyse Grey’s Anatomy and talk about how much we’d shave off an eyebrow if it meant someone would whisk us back to NYC, was to shoot a few of our favourite pieces from the latest summer drop over at Fat Face.

And sweet mumma, I think you’re going to like the things I’m about to show you.

Mostly the striped dress because it’s so cute and feminine and summer-y and will make you want to wander about barefoot with a little flower crown on your head and a glass of Pimm’s in your hand, like a little barbecue fairy.

When I first booked New York I had these wild ideas about trotting about the city in pinafore dresses and dungarees with sassy bardot tops underneath. Alas my boobs weren’t in on the plan, and nothing really fit. Sob.

Enter this hun. The fact that it’s more of a denim dress with thick straps means it flatters most body shapes and is beyond comfy. Fat Face wash all their clothes until they have that almost-worn in feel to them which means you can forget about stiff, awkward clothes that ride up, itch or irritate you.

I layered my pinafore with a white lace dress, a classic red neckerchief and a pair of mint green kicks. (I don’t know why I just wrote kicks, feel free to shake your head at me).

THE JUMPSUIT (shop here)

Best described as the ultimate item to wear to a family barbecue with a hangover, this patterned all-in-one feels like you may as well be in pyjamas, in a good way.

The dark print makes it flattering without being boring, whilst the simple shape means you can go pretty heavy-handed on the ol’ accessories. Yes alright, I need to step away from the chokers and the straw hats, I get it.

My bae.

I don’t know where to start with this dress – the pastel stripes or the easy, flattering fit, or the cute tie waist, but it is an absolute dream.
It also has two layers to it, to stop it being see through and is, without a doubt, one of the comfiest, softest things in my summer wardrobe right now.

I think it’s vital to have a handful of pieces of clothing that regardless of how hormonal or tired or agitated you are, just work and make you feel good. This is 102% one of those babes. (And it comes in a few other prints too..).

You can find out what Ellie’s summer must-haves are over here (and also here more about our girl’s day out). You can also shop the whole Coastal Whites collection from Fat Face over here.

Which one of these sunshine looks was your fave?

This is a sponsored post, but all outfit love and views my own

  • Loving your selections Hannah! Do you mind me asking as a fellow shortie, did you get the jumpsuit taken up as the leg length of jump suits is always about a foot too much on me at five foot? You always seem to find non petite stuff that fits perfectly and I want to know your secret haha!

    • This was a little long, but because of the fit it didn’t matter that it gathered a bit around the ankle because it was so slouchy and laid back anyway! x

  • Jess

Looking amazing Hannah! Are you able to tell me what size you got the jumpsuit in? thinking it may have to be my next purchase! thanks xo

    • Of course, I got mine in a 12! I’d say Fat Face are a little bit generous on sizing 🙂 x

  • Ohhhhh that stripey dress….mine mine mine I think!! And £40 is pretty good for something of good quality! Alice xxx

    • It is SUCH good quality. And I love that it has a lining. So many pretty pastel coloured dresses don’t and it’s like hi you can see my underwear. Slips are such a faff! x

      • Ahh the first thing I saw when my alarm went off at 6am this morning was an email from Fatface saying there was a sale. By 6.10am this dress was winging its way to me by the postal gods – for a mere £25!! 😀 Yessss! xx

  • Love these outfits! Fat Face has never really been a shop I would shop in but I’m away to go have a look now. I agree with you the striped dress is gorgeous, I love it on you! Sophie x

  • You look beyond sassy in these photos. Seriously a dreamboat. Can’t wait for snaps and lunch soon xxx

  • I love all of these pieces and the way you have styled them 🙂 xo

  • Such a great selection – love the striped sun dress, was surprised to see such a nice dress from Fat Face.

  • Love love loveeeee the striped one! Would work great as a pinafore in the winter too!
Also loving your new hair/hat look. You Babin’ HG.

  • Okay, so that stripy dress is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! x

  • Matilda

Omg that stripy dress looks amazing on you! Fat face is such an under-rated brand, I don’t know why people don’t talk about it more. As demonstrated above they make some gorgeous clothes! xxx

  • Ahhhh I have been admiring the stripey one for a while but never got around to actually trying it on (dunno why) so I’m happy to have seen it on you! Definitely going to buy now! I also love the look of the jumpsuit, which is 100% not something I would usually gravitate towards, so thank you for pushing my fashion boundaries. xx

  • You both look so gorge! The striped dress is my favourite but I really love how you’ve layered the pinafore. I’ve always been a secret Fat Face fan, I feel more proud to admit it now though haha! x

THAT STRIPEY DRESS IS DREAMY! I love it. Also love the denim dress outfit too. I’m always super wary with dresses because I’m so short that I think they’ll be too long, so may have to pop to Fat Face this weekend and try these on! x

  • Amy

The striped dress is definitely my favourite and as soon as I’ve written this I’m about to click the link to it and hope the price doesn’t make me cry haha!

  • Sam

I’m absolutely loving both yours and Ellie’s posts of your Fat Face collabs, you both look stunning! I really need the blue and white dress in my life, it’s stunning xxx

  • These all look megz comfy and you look like an adorable doll when you’re sitting in that denim dress!
