Here’s my first reactive blog post as part of the new Hannah Gale blog ethos, so be kind.
I went to see JoJo on Monday. And, it was good, it was amazing, but it was also just a tiny smidge baby bit underwhelming. But it was always going to be because JoJo is bae.
JoJo sang the soundtrack to my entire teenage years, I guess like a lot of you. I know every word to every song on both of her albums (although she assured the crowds in Islington that a third is on the way), but every song and every lyric takes me back to the person I used to be.
They take me back to bulimia and crying in my room, and they take me back to road trips in my car and getting ready for nights out. Her songs take me back to every growing up memory, both good and bad. And I love that she always felt like my secret, my friend, my celebrity, my girl crush, because she never made it massively big. So whilst everyone was dying over Beyonce and Cheryl Cole I was like BUT JOJO <3
Long story short, being 5ft 2 and not having the stamina or spirit for late nights or gigs, made it hard to enjoy Monday night as much as I’d been despo too. Although the noise of 800 people singing Get Out, Leave was pretty spesh as was JoJo’s version of Pillowtalk.
BRB off to find it on YouTube.
Also, I drank an apple and mango VK and that was a mistake. Someone remind me I’m not 18 plz.
So yeah, my make-up. I was really happy with it and felt really smug standing at Ipswich train station waiting for Chris.
There’s nothing overly ground-breaking – it’s pretty much exactly what I outlined in a recent my every day make-up post, just with added night time sass.
I went a bit heavier with the contouring and the highlighter from my Urban Decay palette, and I amped up my eyes with under-eye kohl eye liner which I haven’t done since about 2006. Getting in the spirit of JoJo and that.
And, maybe this is the most obvious thing EVER and I’m hideously sorry if my lack of beauty knowledge makes you want to spray your tea all over your screen, but I’ve never joined up my bottom eyeliner to my top eyeliner to do this whole cute smokey, defined thing. It’s sexy, innit?
I finished the look with my new boo – those Eylure stick on lashes that have no glue – and a slick of Zoeva lipstick in Faith & Love. Which is nice and creamy rather than drying and matte just FYI.
I *almost* feel like I want to go out, out this weekend so I can replicate this look. But then like, the sofa is really comfy so probably nah.
