Ey up chickas.
I mean, I could have just named this post ‘my most favourite ever beauty discoveries of the last year/my life’ but this felt more festive and fitting.
So, erm HAPPY CHRISTMAS MONTH EVERYONE.
I’ve been mega struggling with buying presents this year – everything just feels so blah and same-y and average and it’s hard to work out, especially in the beauty world, what’s actually going to get used and have the recipient be like omfg this has made my life I’m done you da best 2015 rocks and what’s going to end up cutely tucked away at the back of a cupboard somewhere just hanging with some black widow spiders.
I’m not a gift set kinda girl, get me a full size cult and highly recommended product to get really stuck into every damn day of the week. Although IMAGINE if MAC did like little sets of 4 mini lipsticks, omg I die.
But you know what I mean? I don’t want loads of little products I’m not excited about, just the one biggie that gives me slight heart palpatations plz.
There’s no gift sets here, just products that are currently sat about 20cms from me in a suitcase because lol am I going to be separated from them even for a night.
So yeah, here’s my absolute faves. The things that make me feel as sassy and together as Gigi Hadid, just without a Zayn Malik wining and dining me. Sob.
1. MAC RELENTLSSLY RED
I’m currently going through a phase where I treat myself to a new summin’ summin’ from the rows of candy coloured lippies on the MAC counter every month or so, but nothing (aside from maaaaaybe Lady Danger) gets as much wear as my first MAC love – Relentlessly Red.
Despite the name it’s actually a wonderful deep and bright and sexy shade of pink. It’s matte, it’s flattering and it’s the perfect vibrant, hip ‘n’ happening alternative to a classic red.
I ADORE IT.
If you’re looking for a new hue to add to your feeling spendy (legit hate that word so much, why have I typed it sad face) wish list, this is the fella. AND it looks just as downright cracking with a summer holiday glow as it does with a cute af shimmer eye for party season. Yuh huh.
2. OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL
Bored of the blogging world harping on about this hunny yet or nah?
I freaked out last month because I saw a few people on social media getting a bit like IS MY OSKIA CLEANSER GIVING ME SPOTS, and then I was like wooooah I’ve had a breakout too and omg what if it’s my fave skincare product giving it to me. Wah wah wah.
So I stepped back, had some time away from my girl, and can assure you OSKIA does nothing but good things to my skin – it’s those pesky hormones behaving like toddlers on blue Smarties in my womb that are giving me cute skin pimples.
The smell and texture of this cleanser is utterly divine and makes you feel like you’re in a spa every damn time you go to wash your face.So if that doesn’t convince you, I’m not sure what will.
I’m hoping Santa brings me some more dreamy OSKIA products to roll around in for 2016…
3. BROW PENCIL
I spent about a year of my life applying brown Bobbi Brown eye shadow to my brows with a cotton bud. Hashtag not looking cute.
Then I went mental at Duty Free last year and treated myself to a £15 MAC brow pencil and well, the rest is history.
I’d choose a brow pencil over foundation if I could only wear one thing on my face, and that’s coming from a gal with a face like a constellation map.
Although I like the MAC ones because they have fan-bloomin-tastic pigmentation, I’m currently using the Soap & Glory Archery pencil.
It’s a LOT less crumbly than the MAC ones and the pigment is a lot less, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing because it makes my brows look defined and yet natural – know what I’m saying?
The fact that I can finally make my eyebrows longer after a decade of plucking them into short and squat little fellas makes my soul so very haps.
4. TANGLE TEEZER
If you don’t already own a Tangle Teezer then you’re doing life wrong. Soz.
Everytime I go to use a friend’s hairbrush that isn’t a Tangle Teezer my face does that thing like where you’ve just drunk someone’s sugary tea after years of teaching yourself to prefer it without sugar.
Like eurgh, wtf is this vom-tastic hideousness?
Plus they’re small and fit in your bag, which is particularly YEY when your hair insists on knotting itself into one very snazzy dreadlock every time you leave the house (looking at you, hair).
5. URBAN DECAY FLUSHED PALETTE
Hands down my fave countouring cheek face thingy palette I’ve ever tried. It just doesn’t do that thing where it makes my face look like a Neopolitan ice cream, y’know?
I use this every day and it’s changed the way I contour and add a bit of structure to my face.
It doesn’t leave me feeling like I have a streaky fake tan face the way other contouring kits do and it blends exceptionally well.
BRB off to watch some make-up tutorials so I can look like a Kardashian.
6. BOBBI BROWN EYE SHADOW PALETTES
I’ve tried to love cheaper palettes, I have, I have, I have, but nothing compares to my love for Bobbi.
It’s not that the colours are vibrant and insanely pigmented, it’s that every single damn shade in a palette gets used. I know right, GROUNDBREAKING?
I find the shades so easy to use and so effortless. They’ve never made me look like I’ve been punched in the face, or like a 5-year-old that lol put on their mum’s make-up.
I love the subtle shimmery shades for daytime or nights when I have 3 minutes to get ready, whilst the darker shades are perfect (and INCREDIBLY wearable and flattering) for night-time.
That chocolate coloured shimmer though <3<3<3
7. GOSH PRIME ‘N’ SET POWDER
As someone with skin as oily as a frying pan after whipping up some cheeky chunks of chorizo, my face needs something to take the glow off throughout the day and this is my fella.
If you’ve got dry skin, then this might cling to your y’know dry bits, but otherwise it’s the perfect way to get that airbrushed matte look without feeling like you’re clogging up your pores.
It’s completely transparent and just sits on top of your foundation and seals it all in. I tend to carry it in my bag for long days of meetings and events to make me feel a bit less like I’m reflecting someone’s face when they look at me, cute as that is and all…
What products should I be adding to my online wish list this year?
