8 Things You Need To Hit Peak Winter Night-In Goals

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My own headline made me lol.

And also soz if you’re like WOAHHH HANNAH HOLD YOUR HORSES, IT’S STILL AUTUMN.

In my head September, October and November are autumn and then December, January and February are winter, but it just feels a bit lol, too late to write a post about autumn now, so please humour me for the sake of like two weeks.

I’m a night-in girl through and through, but now it’s cold, I’m basically living for snuggly nights in. Screw looking for sparkly party dresses when I could be looking for slipper socks and electric blankets (for real, this is the one on my current hello, I’m old, nice to meet you list).

So y’know, I thought I’d do a little round-up of all the most important pieces for a proper cosy af night in.

I don’t want it getting to spring and you being like OMG I FORGOT TO APPRECIATE WINTER AND BEING SO SNUG I FEEL LIKE I’M IN HIBERNATION. Or you like forgetting that scented candles exist, or good pyjamas, or fires or mulled things.

Anyway, let’s go hun buns.

1. MATCHING TWO PIECE PYJAMAS

Forget the onesie, now you’re a sophisticated grown-up kinda-sorta-not-really middle class lady, you need a good solid set of button up pyjamas.

The sort that you want to open the front door to the ASOS delivery guy in because hello, you look seriously swag.

I’ve got these hunnies from John Lewis. I love that they’re Christmassy because of the HI I’M HERE shade of bright red, but the floral print makes them acceptable all year round.

Posh pyjamas are like bed sheets with a high cotton count, once you’ve tried them you start to panic about how you’ll go back to Tesco basic again. Like, someone wanna hook a girl up with a money tree in the garden, or nah?

2. CHRISTMAS CANDLES

I’d love to say woooooah hold your horses guys, found some megz cheap candles that smell like festive happiness, but alas no, my current hunks are in fact Yankee Candle.

After hitting up Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda this weekend (honestly, my life is full of sexy Instagram moments), I found that these sample size candles were cheapest in Asda (a quid each) and also they had the best selection of ACTUAL festive scents. Y’know the ones that just smell of cinnamon and cookies rather that like ice or pine? Like what, why do I want pine? I’m not buying a car scent FFS.

3. DUVETS AND BLANKETS

Unless there’s about three on your sofa than you’re doing it wrong, just FYI.

4. PAMPER

For me a cosy night in needs a touch of pampering, but nothing that’s so full-on that it’ll take away from burying myself into a mound of duvets and staying there until I pretty much fall asleep and oh whaddya know it’s 9pm and I’ve started snoring during X Factor. Lolz.

I like to pick one thing, maybe a little detoxifying mud mask, maybe a slick of paint on my toenails, maybe a thick slather up of a heavy moisturiser, or a long soak with something foamy and colourful and scented in the bath, to kick-start the evening.

It gives me a little boost of self-esteem and makes me feel somehow productive, balancing out all the slobbing about that’s about to commence.

5. ELECTRIC BLANKET OR HOT WATER BOTTLE

Essentially, you want some sort of heated slice of happiness that you can hug tight and whisper sweet nothings to. I’ve ever owned an electric blanket before but legit, it’s riding high on my wish list right now (specifically, this one). It’s probably wedged between a trip to NYC and a pair of Miu Miu sunglasses tbh.

6. MULLED CIDER

I love a mulled wine, but corrr, you can’t beat a big mug of mulled cider cupped under your chin after you’ve got a belly full of dinner.

Ain’t no autumnal combo like apple and cinnamon. Ya get me?

I think most supermarkets sell these mulled cider packets now, or you could just simmer some cider with cinnamon, cloves and orange if you’vr already got those ingredients at home.

Shout out to Rekorderlig’s Winter Cider which is boom ting when heated up (although a little sickly and NAH when drunk cold).

7. SLIPPER SOCKS

Everyone knows the basic rules – if your head and feet are warm, you’ll be warm. It’s the very reason I sometimes wear a cute pom pom hat around the house on particularly chilly nipple-erecting days.

I’m living in Uggs around the house at the moment, but slipper socks are where it’s at for pulling your little leggies up onto the sofa and under your double duvet.

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate these cutie patooties.

8. SNACKS

It’s basically illegal not to gain a few pounds of festive blubber to keep the cold from infiltrating your bones. Known fact. Currently riding high on my COME TO MUMMA list are: coconut Lindor balls (currently 3 for £10 in Asda which is banging – not sponsored by Asda lol, I just have a keen eye for good deals), vegetable crisps, homemade nachos with refried beans, Haagen Dazs dulche de leche and watermelon fizzy sweets from any decent pick n mix selection.

(Spoiler: I obvs don’t eat these things daily because IT’S ALL ABOUT BALANCE).

What do you guys love doing on a winter snuggle evening in? And most importantly, which boxsets are you basically spending 92% of your time thinking about? I need summin’ real good (maybe a bit murder-y) to get down to wit da boy.
