There are a lot of you sassy amazing I-wanna-give-you-all-a-hug readers out there who have no desire even in the teeniest to take up blogging on a grand scale or enter the big bad world of journalism, so I’m sending you an apology high-five for the lack of relevant post today.
For the rest of you – HI.
What do I mean by professional blogging? I guess I mean you wanna make income from it. You want to grow yourself and your site as a brand that can be marketed to generate a bit of dollar – whether that’s as a full-time career or as a side business to fund your holiday addiction (the strugz is real).
In my eyes, digital journalism and blogging are pretty much the same thing. Having done both it’s evident that as time goes on the two are merging closer and overlapping and well, basically, as long as you’re creating content online you’re basically kinda both of these things. There’s no obvious line between the two in the lifestyle/beauty/fashion kinda realms.
There needs to be like a new fun merger name like Journaler or Blogist.
So this post is to point y’all in the direction of every damn little thing I’ve written on the subject. Like obvs, there’s no right way to do anything and obvs I don’t know everything (like, if anyone finds out how to take the calories out of McDonanlds then plz plz hook a girl up), but these are my tips, my ideas and my thoughts.
I get a lot of emails asking for advice, so here it is, a full-sassy little career post that rounds up everything I know.
Go conquer the world galdems.
This post works whatever your dream digital content end goal is and is based on a rather glossy lil Powerpoint I put together for a lecture I did at Kingston University. And that, ladies and gents, is the most grown-up sentence I’ve ever written.
This is basically everything I know about blogging, everything. It’s the most jam-packed tips post on blogging I’ve ever written, so yeah, there’s that for ya.
Because ain’t no OMG ALL THE AMAZINGS blog without an equally increds string of social media accounts. Here’s how to ace Instagram and not get yourself muted on Twitter.
Such a modest title from me, Lolz. Nah but seriously this post is from right, right back in the ol’ archives, from when I was still working as a journo. So yup, take from that what you will.
From that time I had granola and coffee at 8am in Warehouse’s flagship store whilst the digital goddess that is Chloe Watts from Chloe Digital gave us her top tips on taking your blog to the next professional level.
This guys’s a relatively recent one and kinda outlines where I reckon things are heading within the next few years. I hope it’ll help you grasp where there is and where there isn’t going to be jobs in the next few years. Whoopa.
This one was written pretty soon after I made the leap into full-time blogger so it’s great for people looking to start a blog from scratch. Yeah huh.
From how PRs treat you to how strangers on the internet treat you, this ol’ boy is more about the blogging experience as a whole. Crammed with negatives and positives because duh, life’s not just rainbows and cute baby kittes.
If fashion is your homeboy this posts gonna give you an idea about where the fashion industry is headed – content-wise. It basically bigs up the internet and tells you why throwing yourself into a blog is your best bet.
