I’ve had a good week, one that’s been fuelled by iced coffee (because if I close my eyes I’m basically still in New York, alright?), watching season 8 of One Tree Hill (my 2nd all-time fave after Grey’s Anatomy) and swimming. Yuh huh, I’m back on the swimming wagon, you heard right.
I have been in the UK for two and a half weeks straight which is the longest since March and it feels damn good to be back in routine, back to exercising regularly, back to being on top of emails and work.
I love travelling but it doesn’t half throw you off your life.
And make you a teency bit anxious because OMG YOU HAVE 7 POSTS TO WRITE IN ONE DAY AND OMG THAT BRAND IS CHASING YOU AND WHAT IF YOU HATE EVERYONE YOU’RE GOING AWAY WITH?
So being home? Being home has been nice and safe and stable and normal.
1. BRAS AND HONEY SWIMMING COSTUME
You might remember this little saucy bathing suit number from my Instagram, and it’s something I swore by for the whole 3 hours of beach time I had in Turkey. I love the leopard print, I love that it comes in cup sizes so really actually fits my wobbly lady bits, and I love that it covers me up without making me feel like an old lady.
Swimming costumes have been pretty in fashion as far as swimwear goes for the past few years and it’s been acceptable for hot young things to shun teeny tiny bandeau bikinis for them, but have you noticed that they all have like massive gaping cut-outs in them? You basically have to be a VS model to pull one-off and OMG JUST THINK OF THE TAN LINES. You’d actually look like a human and zebra mated out in the desert. Fo real.
Anyway this swimming costume isn’t that. It’s cool but it covers you up and doesn’t make you feel self conscious. I feel young and hip and happening just without my calamari and bread lunch rolling over a pair of bikini bottoms. It’s nice. (Buy him here)
2. ASDA BABY CACTUS (or cacti – Google says I can use either)
We popped into Asda because we wanted the ingredients for tacos after a day exploring Bury St Edmonds and tackling the never ending house cleaning (like srsly, why does Rudey’s hair just gather in clumps EVERYWHERE?), and I stumbled upon these handsome fellas.
I didn’t buy them because well, I’m struggling to keep my small cactus and succulent nursery alive as it is (I just kinda forgot they’d ever need watering…), but for £3 they’re pretty damn sweet as.
You should all buy them. They’d Instagram like an absolute fucking dream.
3. APPLEYARD FLOWERS
I did something really out there and unusual for a blogger – I ordered peonies. Like, who am I?
This beautiful bouquet currently gracing my desk and making its way into all next week’s blog post photos is courtesy of Appleyard flowers, and I’ll be honest – they’re probably THE best flower delivery I’ve ever received. They’re so alive and fresh and BIG. You know how most of the time they look NOTHIN’ like the pic? Kinda like how a Big Mac is half the size in real life? Well, these beauties did look like they did on the interweb.
So if ya wanna send flowers to your best friend, or your mum, or your cat (so that you get them, obvs) use discount code BLOG33 so you can get a sweet, sweet third off, ain’t too shabby, right? Oh, and they do next day flowers, so that’s always a winner.
4. PINK AND WHITE NAILS
I don’t think I’ve painted my nails alternating shades since about 2007, but y’know what? I thought I’d bring it back.
I opted for my Essie Minimalistic and my Topshop Spilled Milk and I’m pretty damn haps with the way it turned out. I think it looks pretty cute if the colours are quite similar – I’m planning on alternating peach and orange next, so err, watch this space.
5. NEW NOTEBOOK
I legit love stationery about as much as I love ice cream. Both bring warm joys to the walls of my belly.
I was sent this ridic cute and on-point quote notebook from new Etsy store The Quotebook Co – run by fellow writer and blogger Kerry Provenzano, and she’s kindly offering you babe-asuarus rexs 15% off her dreamboatin’ notebooks with the promo code YOUGOGLENCOCO (excellent promo code work here).
They’re megz cheap anyway and so happy and Instagram-friendly. Buy yourself one. You deserve to write in something that makes you feel all sassy and chic when you whip it out in Costa.
6. WATERMELON POUCH
Can we just spend a moment admiring this. Admiring the watermelon-ness. Admiring the sexy pink. Admiring everythang.
This little cutie patootie is from La La Land and although it’s not currently online, there is some similar unicorn ones (here). So yeah, I think we can all agree that watermelons and unicorns are in a similar league.
I’ma be using mine for things like my purse, lip balm and house keys and carrying it inside my handbag, so I don’t do that thing I’m always doing where I’m rooting around at the bottom of my bag looking amongst the pen lids and crumbs and pennies and receipts for the important stuff. Full of good ideas, me.
7. SEEING CORRIE
Me and my main Trek America home girl Corrie were finally reunited this week for the first time since we left each other crying at a taxi rank in Vegas. We were really hungover and emotional after 12 days of rocks, hiking and sleeping in tents, alright?
We spent the day traipsing around London for meetings, shopping, outfit photos and vlogging and it was just dreamy. We also did a fair bit of gossiping, because gossiping makes my heart so <3<3<3<3<3
So err yeah, it was lovely and nice and so good to just have a day in London that wasn’t mega busy and mega sweaty. If you wanna check out what we got up to, here’s a 4 minute vlog to admire.
