Outfit of the week: The £25 Primark trench coat

I’ve been banging on about this chic, beautiful piece of spring outerwear since I first layed eyes on it at the Primark press day back in December.

I’m a big trench coat kinda gal, mostly because they’re incredibly versatile and also because they turn any outfit into a HELLO LOOK AT ME, I’M A SOPHISTICATED YOUNG PROFESSIONAL OUTFIT, so yeah.

My original beige trench was from Primark, bought in the summer of 2013, but this silky, delicious little number has replaced it. It just feels so glossy in my hands and falls so perfectly when you wear it and makes it look way pricier than it is. I was like, seriously, surprised at how well it went with my faux fur sleeveless jacket from eBay and so yeah, that’s how I’ve styled it up in these photos.

In these professional, sassy photos that say HEY GUYS, TAKE ME SERIOUSLY AS A BLOGGER. I get that I’m taken seriously as a blogger, that was perhaps not the right phrase, but you get what I mean, I’m trying to move away from crap, dark, blurry iPhone style pics and am desperate to balance out my magazine-worthy words (aside from, y’know, the 285674 typos) with some magazine-worthy pics.

Just once a week though, mind. I’m not planning on totally scrapping my relatable blog for a career as a fashion blogger because, well, that market is a little more saturated and I don’t feel like I’d fit in and also, I’d get hella bored.

These photos were snapped near Carnaby Street earlier this week by the lovely Hayley Rubery from Frock Me I’m Famous – I won’t lie, it was a ditch-all-shopping-bags-on-the-floor-and-just-GO sort of photo shoot. We got a few weird looks from tourists who were walking past and it wasn’t glamorous, it was rainy and cold and it felt incredibly awkward. So yeah guys, IT’S NOT AS FUN AND GLAM AND CELEB-LIKE as it looks, nuh uh.

We’re going to take more photos next week and it’ll include an outfit change in a cafe toilet, so yeah, fashion blog photography = way less glittery than it looks.
